Myofascial Release
Myo = Muscle
Fascia = Band/Connective tissue
Release = to let go, freeing
“Thank you so much. I feel a tonne lighter, 10cm taller and I can breathe again!”

Treating the cause, not just the symptoms by assessing and treating your body as a whole interconnected unit rather than compartmentalising the body into separate sections.
For example: pain in your neck and shoulders may be caused by an imbalance in your pelvis causing you to be pulled out of alignment, in order to keep you upright and your eyes level the body naturally compensates which can then lead to pain and dysfunction. If I was to only treat the neck and shoulders and not look elsewhere for the cause, even if the neck and shoulder pain improved – it would only be temporary due to the pelvis still being out of alignment.
Fascia interpenetrates and surrounds every muscle fibre, bone, nerve, organ and vessel throughout the body all the way down to cellular level.
It is a dense connective tissue that runs like a 3-dimensional spiders web throughout your entire body without interruption from your head down to your toes.

Normally fascia is gelatinous and pliable. However, injury, trauma, repetitive strain, posture misalignments and inflammation responses can cause the collagenous aspect of the fascia to dehydrate and harden which creates restrictions that lead to inhibited movement, tension and misalignment to the rest of the body.

The fascia system responds to the trained touch to help decrease pain and increase function.
Treatment consists of firm yet gentle sustained pressure into the restricted tissue which is then held at the collagenous barrier giving each restriction time to release, soften and elongate. No oils/lotions are used and it is also highly recommended that you do not apply any prior to your session to enable me to effectively release the restrictions.
I am trained in the John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach® Leading scientists and research have now confirmed the importance of treating the fascia system which has largely been overlooked by healthcare in the past.
It is important to know that myofascial restrictions do not show up in any of the medical tests currently utilised such as X-rays, MRI’s, CAT scans and blood tests. This has caused myofascial related problems to be ignored or misdiagnosed for such a long period of time.
